The Innovate-O-Thon was a 24-hour engineering design competition where I led a team of five engineers to develop a practical solution under strict time and resource constraints. After a full day of brainstorming and prototyping, we narrowed our ideas to two concepts: a more advanced automated system with real-time data tracking, and a simpler, lower-cost alternative that failed to meet several key technical requirements.

With the team divided and time running short, I proposed using a weighted decision matrix to compare performance, cost, scalability, technical feasibility, and presentation clarity. The analysis supported the more advanced concept, so I divided responsibilities across mechanical design, software development, system integration, and financial analysis. I focused on the mechanical design in SolidWorks while coordinating the team as we worked through the night. By morning, we had produced two physical prototypes, a working software demonstration, and an ROI analysis to support the solution's long-term feasibility.

Our team earned second place overall. The experience strengthened my skills in rapid prototyping, engineering design, quantitative decision-making, and cross-functional teamwork. Most importantly, it taught me how structured analysis and clear communication can help a team make strong technical decisions under pressure.
