Different components to lubricate
In the summer of 2025, I interned at Digicon, an aerospace manufacturing firm in Brazil. There, I created a device with additive manufacturing that optimized the production of an aeronautical component by 47%.Â

The device is used in the lubrification process of six different components. Before its implementation, these aeronautical parts had to be hand sprayed with lubricant, one-by-one, by a single qualified employee. This was not only inefficient, but caused a critical production bottle-neck - if this employee leaves for any reason, the part cannot be produced.Â

The most challenging part of the process was creating a single device that could function across the six different SKUs of varying geometries. After 10 weeks of work and hundreds of prototypes, the solution included a motor powering a variety of gears that would spin the parts, allowing them to be evenly coated in lubricant at once.

I presented my project to company directors and engineers with a full ROI analysis, finding that the device would save over 5 working hours every year, a time efficiency gain of 47%.Â

The experience taught me how to manage a real engineering project with professional deadlines. More importantly, it showed me that engineering is all about prototyping, testing, and innovating.
